Each month this year, we will share with you a significant image from the GRAAA archives as the group commemorates 70 years of existence in 2025. The images are selected to reveal not only significant history, but also some lighter moments.

Exactly 55 years ago, on June 21, 1970, the nearly completed James C. Veen Observatory was dedicated to GRAAA's co-founder and first president after five years of concentrated effort. Over 100 people gathered on a sunny Sunday afternoon to hear memorable comments by Association leaders and an inspiring dedication address by University of Michigan Professor of Astronomy Richard Teske. Proud members who toiled with so much commitment were joined by family and community members for celebration of an iconic facility that continues to thrive.
